WSU announces new Title IX Coordinator
Sara Zafar
The Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance is pleased to announce that Sara Zafar has been named as the new Title IX Coordinator.
As the Title IX Coordinator, Sara will oversee the university’s compliance with Title IX including coordinating the response to gender-based discrimination complaints, responding to inquiries concerning Title IX, publicizing WSU’s policies and providing training on preventing sex discrimination, harassment and sexual violence.

Sara was born and raised in Wichita. She received her B.A. from the University of Kansas, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. She is licensed with the Supreme Court of Kansas and the United States District Court, District of Kansas, and is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Wichita Bar Association, Young Lawyers Association, Wichita Women Attorneys Association, and Kansas Women Attorneys Association.
Panopto to go down for maintenance this weekend
WSU’s video production and hosting service, Panopto, will be down for routine maintenance and cloud upgrade from 8-11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22. It will be unavailable at that time.
After the upgrade, all video creators must download a new version of the Panopto recorder in order to upload videos to the system. Please refer to the Blackboard landing page for instructions about how to download the new recorder after the upgrade.
Coming soon – Shocker Printing Solutions
Effective Monday, July 1, Duplication Station will change its name to Shocker Printing Solutions to better communicate what it does.
Duplication Station gives the impression that it duplicates / makes copies, and that isn’t the case. It is a full-service digital printer, and we hope the name change will better convey that message.
Beginning July 1, the email address will change to shockerprinting@wichita.edu.
Training for preventing suicide to be offered
Come and join this training provided by Counseling and Prevention Services and learn more about how to prevent suicide in our community. This training is part of the #WSUWeSupportU campaign and covers signs that someone may need additional support, how to start conversations with people who may need help, and the resources that are available both at WSU and in the community.

Shocker Store in RSC closing for inventory
The Shocker Store in the Rhatigan Student Center will be closed for year-end inventory starting at noon Wednesday, June 26, through 5 p.m. Friday, June 28. It will reopen at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29. They also will be unable to process web orders during this closure.
Adult learners share their Shocker Stories
Adult learners at Wichita State often have a poignant reason for finishing a degree. It typically comes with a story, including how they were unable to either attend college after high school, or why they had to give up their journey to college before they graduated.
The Office of Adult Learning gets the privilege of helping those students and hearing their stories. Many adult learners are grateful for the staff and faculty who encourage and empower them along the way. The Office of Adult Learning created Shocker Stories to not only share their stories, but to highlight the impact staff and faculty have on students. View Shocker Stories.

Volunteers sought for bicycle and pedestrian count
Volunteers are needed to help manually count bicycle and pedestrian activity across 35 sites in the Wichita Metro area. The annual event, sponsored by the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 21. This important event relies heavily on the commitment of community volunteers to gather data about how our network of paths and lanes are being used.
According to Tricia Thomas, WAMPO communication’s manager: “One of the greatest challenges facing the bicycle and pedestrian field is the lack of documentation on usage and demand. Without accurate and consistent demand and usage figures, it is difficult to measure the positive benefits of bicycle and pedestrian investments, especially when compared to the other transportation modes such as the private automobile.”
As such, this event is the only source for regional-scale bicycle and pedestrian data. The results of this data are then used to guide investments throughout the regional transportation system.
So please consider volunteering! This annual event is a real opportunity for local residents to become involved in a piece of the regional transportation planning process. As we know, bicycle and pedestrian investments stimulate the economy, public health, and the overall quality of life in a variety of ways. Communities that invest in these facilities inherently attract people and businesses, so it’s good for everyone!

The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame (KSHOF) has announced the members of the Class of 2019,
and three former Shocker standouts will be among the inductees who will be enshrined
on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Kansas Star Casino.
Three-time Missouri Valley Conference basketball selection Warren Jabali, two-time
All-American and 12-year Major League pitcher Mike Pelfrey, and two-time Missouri
Valley Conference baseball honoree and nine-year MLB veteran Nate Robertson are the
Shockers who will be inducted into the KSHOF.
