Faculty, staff virtual town Hall on April 2
A live YouTube virtual faculty and staff town hall will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, April 2. This is an opportunity to hear and interact with Interim President Rick Muma and Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Shirley Lefever. The event will be moderated by the presidents of the faculty, UP and USS senates.
Faculty and staff who want to participate are encouraged to do so during the live YouTube stream. If you don’t currently have a YouTube account, click here for more information on how to create one. Creating an account will help facilitate questions in the live chat section of the Virtual Town Hall. You can watch the town hall live and recorded after the event at Virtual Town Hall.

Goal 8: Increase enrollment of new fall transfer students
- WSU remains the top transfer destination in Kansas for the 9th year in a row, with more students transferring to WSU than to KSU and KU combined. Despite WSU’s appeal to the transfer population, we were not able to grow this group of students this year. In the past five years, our top three community college feeder schools have gone from a combined 11,600 students to fewer than 9,800. These declining enrollments has made recruitment of transfer students very challenging.
- We continue to work on articulation agreements with other institutions to create clear paths to transfer credits. Potential transfer students can see how the credits they have already taken can apply to different degrees by using our Transfer Gateway.
- More than 11,000 users have accessed our Transfer Gateway this academic year. 5,964 new courses have been evaluated by our faculty to determine their equivalencies to our courses, adding to an already sizable database of courses.
Recruitment and Retention Tips:
- Invest the time to design and maintain an attractive and informative webpage. This is the primary way that all prospective students, high school, transfer and international, learn about our programs.
- Host or support a career exploration event that will help current and prospective majors understand the opportunities available to them.

Managers of USS and Non-Teaching UP Employees: It’s Goal Planning Time
myPerformance Evaluations for USS and Non-Teaching UP employees are available for 2021-2022 goal planning. Managers should add expectations, competencies, and goals for the 2021-2022 review period, then meet with their employees to review. Don’t forget to provide them a hard copy of their evaluation for reference throughout the year! Goal planning should be completed by March 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM.

Helpful Hints:
- Your direct reports will not be able to access their 2021-2022 myPerformance evaluation until the Employee Self-Evaluation step beginning January 16, 2022, which is why you should provide a hard copy of their 2021-2022 review and review it with them!
- Managers have access to update and edit their direct reports myPerformance evaluations as many times as they would like until Employee Self-Evaluation time beginning January 16, 2022!
- Save then SUBMIT! Make sure to SUBMIT after saving every time you update a myPerformance evaluation! Your direct reports will not be able to see the information and you will still have access to their evaluation until January 16, 2022 even after selecting SUBMIT.
- Need a copy of a past performance evaluation? Check the box that says, “Show completed and expired tasks”, then “Search”! Save it as a PDF or print as needed.

Entries now open for 2021 Edible Book Festival
Edible Book Festival is back! University Libraries invites all to join in on this culinary creation contest for a chance to win great local prizes. Enter online by April 1 at libraries.wichita.edu/ediblebookfestival. There you can find contest rules and entry photos from previous contests.
Basic rules are as follows:
- This virtual event features contestants creating edible art based on their favorite literature.
- Four prizes will be given — three based on judging and one on a popular vote.
- Once created, contestants can upload photos to our website by April 1.
- Anyone can then vote for the People's Choice winner April 5-8.
- Winners will take home prizes announced April 9.
2021 LEAD Conference call for proposals
Student Involvement in partnership with the Student Government Association are seeking presentation proposals for our 2021 LEAD Conference taking place on Friday, May 28 in the Rhatigan Student Center. Virtual options available pending university and CDC guidelines.
This year, we are offering four different conference tracks featuring various speakers and topics.

Service-Learning Showcase seeks submissions
The Service-Learning Showcase is a unique opportunity for students who participate in service-learning through applied learning opportunities to showcase their experience through a research or reflective poster about the application of their course work to current community issues. This year the showcase will be held in a digital format and judged by a team of community partner leaders.
The showcase is an open forum for students to interact with faculty/staff, community partners and other students to engage in conversation about Wichita State University's commitment to the public good. Awards are presented in the following categories:
- Outstanding Overall Service-Learning Project — $150 scholarship to winning entry
- Innovation and Creativity in Problem Solving — $100 scholarship to winning entry
- Community Impact/ Community Choice — $100 scholarship to winning entry
- Collaboration and Leadership in Service-Learning — $100 scholarship to winning entry
Submissions are due on April 1.

Tilford Talks celebrate Women's History Month
In continued celebration of Women’s History Month and the legacy of Dr. Michael Tilford, the Wichita State University's Presidents Diversity Council will be hosting Tilford Talks from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 26.
[title of show]: a livestreaming experience
Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival in New York. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. They gather their two actress friends, Susan and Heidi, and their accompanist and music director, Larry. With the full team assembled, Jeff and Hunter decide to write a musical about two guys writing a musical.
"[title of show]" — taken from the space on the festival’s application form which asks for the "[title of show]" — follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. "[title of show]" is, above all, a love letter to the musical theatre — a uniquely American art form — and to the joy of collaboration.
[title of show] runs at 7:30 p.m. March 25-27 and at 2 p.m. March 28 and will be steamed live. Tickets are $10; Wichita State students receive 1 free ticket with a student ID number. To purchase virtual tickets, go to www.wichita.edu/FABOTickets.

Shockers take on Omaha in three-game series
Shocker Baseball hosts a three-game series versus OmahaMarch 26-28. First pitch times are set for 6 p.m. March 26, 2 p.m. March 27, and 1 p.m. March 28. A limited amount of single game and free student tickets are available, so come out and enjoy a weekend of Shocker Baseball. Dates and times are subject to change.
