Faculty, staff virtual town Hall on April 2
A live YouTube virtual faculty and staff town hall will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, April 2. This is an opportunity to hear and interact with Interim President Rick Muma and Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Shirley Lefever. The event will be moderated by the presidents of the faculty, UP and USS senates.
Faculty and staff who want to participate are encouraged to do so during the live YouTube stream. If you don’t currently have a YouTube account, click here for more information on how to create one. Creating an account will help facilitate questions in the live chat section of the Virtual Town Hall. You can watch the town hall live and recorded after the event at Virtual Town Hall.
Outdoor classroom spaces now available
In response to faculty requests, six outdoor classroom spaces are now available for reservation Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. These spaces will have 30 folding chairs to be arranged as you choose, along with a table. White boards and portable amplification are also available. We ask that people limit themselves to two reservations at a time to allow others the opportunity to use these spaces. Summer institute seeks squad leaders
Student Involvement is seeking Squad Leaders for this year's Summer Leadership Institute (SLI). Normally SLI is a five-day stay-away leadership institute; however, we are adjusting programming to be a day-camp with smaller numbers to allow for social distancing.
In this role, you will directly be mentoring students through their leadership journey through small group reflection, facilitation, and impactful dialogue. Additionally, there will be a meeting before the event to connect and do some brief training and preparation.
This year's SLI will be May 17-22. The deadline to sign up to be a squad leader is April 9.

Entries now open for 2021 Edible Book Festival
Edible Book Festival is back! University Libraries invites all to join in on this culinary creation contest for a chance to win great local prizes. Enter online by April 1 at libraries.wichita.edu/ediblebookfestival. There you can find contest rules and entry photos from previous contests.
Basic rules are as follows:
- This virtual event features contestants creating edible art based on their favorite literature.
- Four prizes will be given — three based on judging and one on a popular vote.
- Once created, contestants can upload photos to our website by April 1.
- Anyone can then vote for the People's Choice winner April 5-8.
- Winners will take home prizes announced April 9.
OAT summer grant apps due
The Open/Alternative Textbook (OAT) initiative is designed to promote, incentivize, and grow the use of freely available resources in Wichita State classes to reduce the economic impact of textbook costs on the student body.
The OAT Grant Program provides $2,000-5,000 grants to faculty who apply for the grant to redesign a course with no-cost resources, or to write or contribute to an open educational resource, or other alternative text that can be provided to the students free of charge. These grants are funded by SEM and the course fees.

2021 LEAD Conference call for proposals
Student Involvement in partnership with the Student Government Association are seeking presentation proposals for our 2021 LEAD Conference taking place on Friday, May 28 in the Rhatigan Student Center. Virtual options available pending university and CDC guidelines.
This year, we are offering four different conference tracks featuring various speakers and topics.

Neighbor challenge coming to Wichita State
National Good Neighbor Day is Sept. 28 and was created in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter to raise public awareness that being a good neighbor can help build strong, thriving communities.

Tell students about Ulrich internship opportunity
Do you know a student who is looking for a paid internship? The Ulrich Museum of Art on the Wichita State University campus is accepting applications from Wichita State students for its paid internship program, which offers valuable experience in the everyday workings of a university art museum. These internships give students interdisciplinary and experiential learning that is informative on both intellectual and practical levels. Tasks may include assisting with research for exhibitions, cataloging works of art, helping with publicity, participating in exhibition installations, working on programs, and giving exhibition tours. Internships for course credit in fulfillment of curricular requirements are available in coordination with many academic departments.
To apply, the student must email a current resume accompanied by a cover letter to ksenya.gurshtein@wichita.edu or or jana.erwin@wichita.edu. Applicants should summarize their past experiences related to art or museum work, their goals for the future, and an explanation of why they would like to intern at a university modern and contemporary art museum.
