The College of Applied Studies proudly recognizes the outstanding scholarly work of Mike Ross, Bobby Berry, and Mark Vermillion, whose research was named a finalist for the 2024 Sport Management Education Journal (SMEJ) Best Paper Award.

Their paper explores the effects of self-identified gender on the perceptions of the industry and one’s discipline. This important contribution was among a select group of finalists considered for this year’s top honor in SMEJ, published by the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).

We commend Ross, Berry, and Vermillion for their continued dedication to impactful, applied research and their leadership in advancing sport management education.

Their work, along with other current and past issues of SMEJ, is available to members through the NASSM website.

Please join us in celebrating their achievement and commitment to academic excellence!
