What inspired you to choose your major?
What inspired me to choose this major is a who - my grandmother went to Emporia State to become a teacher but ended up pregnant and dropped out. I also had really incredible elementary teachers growing up that had such high patience and nurturing that I hoped to express in this career.
Tell us about your extracurricular activities or involvement on campus. What clubs, organizations, or events have you been a part of?
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to attend or join any clubs on campus, but it is incredible to see and hear of the possibilities to become more involved. Since my time at Wichita State, I have had great opportunities to become friends with a lot of wonderful people.
What advice would you give to incoming undergraduates to make the most of their college experience?
The advice that I would give to undergraduates would be to become familiar with the campus early - it's a huge school. I would also mention the importance of being yourself, there are so many people on campus that you could potentially connect with. Lastly, make time for yourself during this busy season.
Are there any professors or mentors who have had a significant impact on your college journey? If so, how?
A few professors I want to mention are Professor Wolfe from MATH 501 - she was always so patient with me and my many questions during any time of the day. Another would be Robin Folkerts - she has been the key to my success this semester and future, having her three times this semester has brought me so much joy.
What are your future aspirations or career goals after graduation?
After graduating, I want to start working as soon as I can. Not right away, but a few years after, I hope to complete my Master's.
Can you share a fun or unique fact about yourself that most people wouldn't know?
A fact that is unique and fun about myself would have to be my penmanship. A lot of people that have seen my handwriting always tell me that it looks like it could be a font.
If you could go back and give your high school self one piece of advice about college, what would it be?
If I could go back to high school, some advice that I would tell myself is to not worry so much about the boys or the desire of a relationship, rather focus on my studies.
What has been your favorite part of your undergraduate student experience so far?
One of my favorite parts as an undergraduate student experience is all of my achievements such as being listed on the Dean's Honor Roll, growing my GPA, and creating life long friendships.
