Sport Management Academic Advisor
CAS Scholarship Coordinator

I started at Emporia State in 2013 getting my degree in Theater Education, this then changed to Elementary Education in 2014. I was an RA the whole time I was at Emporia State. Then 2016 came around and I had no idea what I wanted to do, so I dropped out and started working full time back in Wichita. I worked at Walgreens as a Pharmacy Technician. It was a semester before I went back to school, I came to Wichita State where I finished getting my degree. I worked full time and went to school full time to graduate in 2018 with my Bachelor of Arts in General Studies – Psychology. After I graduated, I went directly into my Masters Degree. I went to KState Global Campus, because I was needing to still work full time and needed an option completely online since I was working in social work – where the hours are crazy. I worked full time while I got my Masters, but then took a semester off about a year into the program. I moved a lot in that semester I took off, and even got a new job in academic advising at WSUTech, before settling down again and going back to school. I graduated in 2020 with my Master of Science in Academic Advising. I figured it was time to take a break and got more involved at WSUTech in advising. After two and half years at WSUTech, I realized the only was to continue professional growth was to try branching out, after some failed interviews, I got a call back and here I am! The new advisor over Sport Management and Scholarship Coordinator for College of Applied Studies at WSU. Next step: PhD.

I enjoy helping students. My only theme through all my education and job woes has been I want to help students fall in love with their education. That started with teaching, which wasn’t for me, and here I have landed in advising for higher education.

I’m such a nerd. Being the advisor over Sport Management, I’m sure most of you thought I played sports, coached, etc. I’m sorry to say, I have no one athletically inclined bone in my body. Do I like to watch sports? Absolutely. Does my husband play every sport under the sun? For sure! However, I’m more of a read-a-good-book kind of girl. I love to read; I’ve been sucked into Netflix recently though. I love to cook. I love to learn.

Fun fact: when I was three I stole a baby chick from the Zoo.
