Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Wichita State University's Bachelor of Science in Applied Engineering program. We are excited about our new program focus and what we have to offer our current and prospective students.

Formerly called Engineering Technology, we have renamed and revised the program to Applied Engineering. This was done through input and extensive conversations from our Industrial Advisory Board, alumni and students looking to enhance our graduates’ opportunities in the workforce. Our program offers students an interdisciplinary and hands-on engineering education that is coupled with theory in fundamental engineering concepts. Students can select from one or more of the following focus areas:

  • Sustainability and Environmental Engineering
  • Engineering Management
  • Process Automation

We also have a growing number of certificates that students can earn while completing their degree and are open to students from all colleges, many of which are aligned with industrial certification. Currently, we offer certificates in:

  • Sustainable Energy Systems
  • Sustainable Water Resources
  • Assistive Technology and Accessible Design
  • Cyber-Physical Systems
  • Applied Data Analysis
  • Facilities Management

Interested in scholarship opportunities? The College of Engineering provides many scholarship opportunities to assist students in funding their education. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and need, made possible by our gracious donors. Their gifts provided more than 200 students with the opportunity to continue their studies in the field of engineering.

If you are interested in additional program information, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would love to hear from you and assist you in the decision process.

Thank you for your interest.

GO SHOCKS!
