SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES

 Rui Ni, Associate Professor, Psychology

Over the last 11 years at WSU, I have fully committed myself to teaching, research, and community services. In addition to educating undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom, I have supervised more than 50 undergraduate students and 10 graduate students on a variety of research projects in my lab. I have actively pursued and secured external fundings from NIH and NSF, which help strengthen our research environment and the training of our students. I hope to provide my insights and share my experience with the Dean’s Faculty Advisory Committee.

Lisa Parcell, Associate Professor, Elliott School of Communication.

Over the 18 years I have been part of LAS, I have been strategic in serving the college in ways I care deeply about. I am currently on the LAS tenure and promotion committee and serving as one of two members of both the tenure track review and teaching professionals review. I teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, so understand the concerns and pressures associate with both. As the graduate coordinator for the MA in communication, I have administrative experience in recruiting, retention, and program evaluation. I also serve as the co-director of a market research agency, The Research Partnership, that provides quantitative and qualitative research to local, regional, and national clients. Work with the agency has given me experience in budgets, personnel, and contract and grant funding. In addition, working with internal and external clients both through TRP and through the applied learning courses I teach has helped me understand the university’s place in the community and our responsibility to help our students become contributing members to our society and successful in their careers. The combination of these experiences gives me the background to understand the complex issues the LAS Advisory Board will discuss and the perspective that will allow me to contribute to the discussion in a meaningful way.

Stacey Popejoy, Associate Clinical Professor, School of Social Work

As a NTT Associate Clinical Professor in the Social Work Department, I believe I will bring a valuable perspective to the work of the Deans Faculty Advisory Committee. I bring with me years of behavioral science experience both in the field as a practitioner and as a professor dedicated to student success. I believe strongly in the value of a liberal arts education and that for students to access and benefit from that education, strong faculty and systems must be in place. It would be an honor to provide my experience and to serve the Dean's Faculty Advisory Committee in any way.

Jodie Simon, Associate Teaching Professor, Department of Sociology

Having served on the Senate Rules Committee, and as an Orientation Faculty Fellow, I feel that I have both a university procedures understanding as well as a vested interest in the needs of our current student body that will be of value.

Eric Wilson, Associate Educator, Elliott School of Communication

In my 10 years as a full-time faculty member, I have worked with several deans and other administrators, and been witness to the changes and growth the University has experienced. As a recently promoted Associate Educator, I would bring the perspective of teaching-track faculty, a perspective I feel sometimes goes overlooked or unrepresented in college governance. I am also engaged in a Fellowship with the Office of Academic Affairs that explores trends in higher education, attending national higher education conferences. The perspectives gained through this Fellowship provide helpful insights into students and higher education would provide a unique and important voice on the committee, as would my experience serving on the LAS exceptions committees, and previously as a Recruitment and Online Teaching Fellow.
