Summer Workshop Introduces GK-12 Teacher Fellows

The WSU GK-12 program is in its first year.  Before the first academic year, the GK-12 teacher fellows from the three targeted Wichita public high schools spent two days at WSU.  There was a general orientation session, but most of the time was spent in discussions and in the laboratory.  The GK-12 faculty and graduate fellows had the opportunity to hear from the teachers about how the proposed activities could work in their school and their classroom.  The partnership that began building at this meeting will help to mold the original vision for the program into something realistically attainable.  The teachers had the opportunity to perform some molecular biology activities.  These are precursors to the development of the novel classroom activities to be offered district-wide in spring 2007.
