Kimberly Engber teaches courses in nineteenth- and twentieth-century American literature and culture at Wichita State. She received her BA in English from Kenyon College and her Ph.D. in English with a specialization in womens and gender studies at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). In addition to teaching literature and composition for several years at Hunter College CUNY in New York City, she has lectured at universities in Japan and Europe. She spent the 2006-2007 academic year teaching in the Department of American Studies at the University of Zagreb, Croatia with the support of a Fulbright Teaching Grant. Her research focuses on American women writers, particularly women travel writers, anthropologists, and writers of fictional autobiographies. She never passes up an opportunity to travel, and she hopes her next project will include writers who love the Adriatic Sea as much as she currently does.
