Manjur Alam and his wife own Asian Groceries, which specializes in Indian and Middle Eastern foods. Manjur, a native of Bangladesh, came to Wichita in 1985 to study at Wichita State University. Noting that he had to work to finance his studies in the United States, Manjur reveals:

[I] paid for my school, which meant I dropped out a few times … Whenever I ran out of money, I stopped coming to classes and went back to work.

Based upon his work ethic and perseverance Manjur, ultimately graduated from Wichita State. Moreover, these personality traits served him well when he entered the realm of entrepreneurship full time.

In this interview, Manjur provides the details of his entrepreneurial journey which includes an early failed attempt to run an Indian restaurant and his success as a grocery store owner. When asked what advice would he give to an aspiring business owner, he replied "Make sure you're willing to work. A lot more than 8 hours a day. It'll pay off. You will have setbacks. Just get up and set your new goals."
