Christina Long became an entrepreneur later in life out of necessity. As she asserts:

I used to be a reporter with the Wichita Eagle covering Wichita's ethnically diverse communities. I really enjoyed this position, but the industry changed. As the industry changed, because of lower readership, a lot of journalists [including myself] had to find new careers.

Christina discusses her subsequent entrepreneurial journey which began as the owner of a T-shirt company and evolved into a full-scale graphic design and communication services company. Also, based upon her positive experience with the Kansas Small Business Development Center at Wichita State University, in 2015 she established a nonprofit organization called the Create Campaign which "is a minority business development organization which seeks to activate urban entrepreneurship in the Midwest through coaching, mentoring, and the provision of networking opportunities for clients."
