The Philosophy Department is now recieving applications for its History of Philosophy Scholarship. Up to $2500 will be awarded, and the submission deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, March 11.
Requirements:
- Declared major in Philosophy
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
- Completed a minimum of nine hours in Philosophy at Wichita State University by the end of the current spring semester
- Completed six hours of work in the History of Philosophy at Wichita State University by the end of the current spring semester*
*For the purposes of this scholarship, the following courses will count as work in the history of philosophy: 303, 305, 315, 322, 331, 350, 352, 365, 519, 546, 549, and 565. Some sections of 585 and 590 also may be considered as courses in the history of philosophy. If you have questions about any particular course, please contact us.
Students interested in being considered for this award should submit the following to the Chair of the Philosophy Department, Susan.Castro@wichita.edu, by 5 p.m. Friday, March 11:
- A statement of interest in the scholarship. (Just say in the body of the email that you're submitting the paper for this scholarship.)
- A sample of written work, preferably a paper written for a course in the history of philosophy
The History of Philosophy Scholarship may be awarded in conjunction with other scholarships.
