ADCI will host free ceramics equipment workshops in July

A representative from AMACO Brent will visit the Wichita State campus in July to conduct free workshops on the repair and maintenance of Brent wheels and Skutt kilns.

Both will take place in McKnight Art Center, which is adjacent to the Ulrich Museum of Art. The workshops are free and open to the public, though advance registration is required.

Brent Wheels: Repair & Maintenance will be offered from 1–5 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 and 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 in the McKnight Art Center atrium. Participants wil learn how each part of the wheel functions and how to refurbish the foot pedal. Space allowing, participants may bring their own wheels to work on during the class. Those interested in bringing a wheel should contact Tanna Burchinal, ADCI studio manager, at tanna.burchinal@wichita.edu by July 26.

Skutt Kilns: Repair & Maintenance will be offered from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 and 1–5 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 in McKnight Art Center, Room 123. Participants will learn about the anatomy of Skutt kilns. The workshop will cover replacement of electrical elements and electrical basics,  including how to test relays and measure data for troubleshooting.
