24/25 Symphony Orchestra Audition Information
Auditions for the 23/24 academic year for winds, brass, and percussion will be on Friday, August 16, and for strings on Monday, August 19.

Symphony Orchestra Information FormWoodwind and Brass - August 16
WSU Symphony Orchestra auditions for all woodwind and brass students—both new and returning—will be held Friday, August 16. The audition will be held in B105 in the Duerksen Fine Arts Center and will consist of:

a major scale (two or three octaves)
- a prepared solo or orchestral excerpt(s) approximately five minutes in length
- a short passage of sight reading

Percussion auditions will be held Friday, August 16, beginning at 1:00 PM. It is recommended that students arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled audition time. The audition will be held in C07 in the Duerksen Fine Arts Center and will consist of::
- Percussion Performance and Music Education majors -
- prepare a short solo on:
- Snare Drum
- Mallet Percussion
- Timpani
- Sight reading on all instruments
- prepare a short solo on:
- Non-music majors may demonstrate their abilities in as many of the following three
areas as they are comfortable with.
- Snare Drum
- Mallet Percussion
- Timpani

WSU Symphony Orchestra placements for all string students—both new and returning—will be held Monday, August 19. The audition will be held in B105 in the Duerksen Fine Arts Center and will consist of:

a major scale (two or three octaves) of your choice and passages of the audition music to be announced

Violinists may choose to audition on either first or second part; some rotation of seating may occur from concert to concert.
