Middle School Choir Day

Cost is $15 per student. Checks should be made out to "WSU School of Music" and should be mailed prior to the event. Please mail checks to:

Registration

Main Information

  • Join WSU choral faculty and guest clinician, Dr. Eduardo Novelli-Garcia (University of Kansas) for the second annual WSU Middle School Choir Day 
  • Only electronic registration will be accepted.
  • There is a student participation fee of $15 per student - No Director Fee.
    • Registration payment submitted by check on or before Middle School Choir Day. 
      • Make checks payable to “Wichita State University School of Music”.
    • The registration fee includes the cost of lunch (pizza and soda).
  • Middle School Choir Day enrollment is limited - first come, first serve

Middle School Choir Day Schedule

SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  • 8:30am: Check-In begins (Deurksen Fine Arts Center and Miller Concert Hall Lobby)
  • 9:00am - 9:40am: Full Group Welcome, Warm-Up & SING!
    • All students in Miller Concert Hall
    • Tenor/Bass singers: Dismiss at 9:40am and lead by way of Wiedemann Hall Bathrooms 
    • Treble singers: Dismiss at 9:45am & lead to bathrooms
  • 9:50am -10:20am: Divide into Treble Choir & Tenor/Bass Sections
    • Treble Singers: Miller Concert Hall
    • Tenor/Bass Singers: Wiedemann Hall
  • 10:30am - 11:00am: Mini-Recital of WSU Faculty: Wiedemann Hall
  • 11:00am -11:45am: Full Group Sing
    • All students in Wiedemann Hall
    • Staggard dismissal by school to Lunch (Dr. Katelyn Peterson) 
  • 12:00pm - 12:30pm: Lunch – Pizza, Cookies and Water (Deurksen Fine Arts Center and Miller Concert Hall Lobby)
  • 12:40pm-1:10pm: Full Group Final Sing
    • All students in Wiedemann
      • Teach new song by rote
      • Q&A time with clinician
      • Final Informance

Student Drop-Off/Pick-up – Parking and WSU Shuttle Bus

Buses, vans, and autos are to unload/load equipment and students are to be dropped-off/picked-up at Circle Drive in front of Duerksen Fine Arts Center. Buses, vans, and autos are to park at the WSU Metropolitan Complex, located at 29th and Oliver streets.

To the WSU Metropolitan Complex from the WSU Main Campus:

  • East on 21st to Oliver
  • North on Oliver (left hand turn from 21st street on to Oliver)

Shuttle Bus to Main Campus:

  • Metropolitan Complex Shuttle stop is located on the West side of the building
  • Take the Shuttle back to the main WSU Campus Wiedemann Hall stop
  • Duerksen Fine Arts Center is adjacent to Wiedemann Hall

Optional Post Event Activity - Tour Ulrich Museum of Art:

The Ulrich Museum of Art welcomes student groups to tour their museum and can provide bus reimbursement for schools who participate in the Ulrich Tour Program. MS Choir Day ends at 1:10pm, if you are hoping to take advantage of the Ulrich program, please schedule your tour after MS Choir Day.
