Master of Arts in Communication Sciences & Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology)

The MA‑CSD curriculum requires full-time study for two years (57 credit hours over 5–6 semesters). Refer to the College of Health Professions section of the WSU Graduate Catalog for additional information.

Mentored Research Project

Three credit hours of a mentored research project — either (1) Nonthesis or (2) Thesis — are required to complete the program. Nonthesis research projects (completed during the first-year Fall and Spring semesters, and one semester thereafter) may be completed by individuals or teams, as appropriate.  Students pursuing the Thesis option must complete their project according to Graduate School requirements and deadlines.

(1) Nonthesis Option (3 credit hours total)

  • CSD 891 Nonthesis Research — taken for 1 credit hour during three semesters (first Fall, first Spring, and one additional semester)

(2) Thesis Option (3 credit hours total)

  • CSD 891 Nonthesis Research (1 credit hour; first Fall semester)
  • CSD 895 Thesis Research (1 credit hour)
  • CSD 899 Thesis (1 credit hour; taken during the semester of the oral defense and thesis completion)
