SGA Offering Spring & Summer Scholarships

Do you need a scholarship for the 2022 spring semester or summer session? The Student Government Association (SGA) has scholarships available for both! Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. TODAY. For more information or to apply, visit the SGA Scholarships website


Submit to the 2022 Great Plains Honors Council Conference

All Honors students are invited to submit their papers and presentations to the 2022 Great Plains Honors Council Conference co-hosted by Wichita State University and Hutchinson Community College. The conference will be held on the Wichita State campus from March 18th – 20th. This interdisciplinary undergraduate academic conference is open to all members of the Great Plains Honors Council, including students of the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. The Honors College will cover the cost of registration for Honors students. This is a great opportunity to share your research, ideas, and work with your peers outside of Wichita State!

Students can submit materials for competitive and non-competitive poster competitions, oral presentation, or the Boe Award for papers, which includes a $200 prize. To learn more about the conference and presentation opportunities, visit wichita.edu/gphc2022.

Please email honorsassistant@wichita.edu to request the submission form. Submission forms and materials are due to honors@wichita.edu by 8 a.m. next Friday, January 28th.


Apply for a Cohen Enhancement Scholarship!

Cohen Enhancement Scholarships of up to $4,000 support current Honors students in activities such as study abroad, National Student Exchange, unpaid internships, travel to national conferences, undergraduate research, and service-learning.

Please visit the Honors Scholarships webpage for more information and the application. The Spring 2022 application deadlines are February 1st and March 15th.


Apply for the 2022 Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol

The Kansas Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol event is an opportunity for students to present their research experiences virtually to state lawmakers, Board of Regents members, and the WSU community from March 1st - 3rd.

Up to 40 students participate each year representing each of the state’s eight public four-year institutions. Projects from a broad range of disciplines are encouraged - especially those that relate to the state of Kansas and issues important to the State Legislature (e.g. education, health, agriculture, aviation, biotechnology, energy, transportation, manufacturing, environment, and social services). Up to five projects will be selected from each institution and students working on the same research project are encouraged to apply as a group.

Applications Open for the Outstanding Cohen Honors Student Award

The award recognizes a high-achieving senior leader who takes on challenges and demonstrates commitment to academic excellence in Honors. You are eligible if you are a graduating senior who has completed at least 90 credit hours by the end of the summer 2021 semester AND maintain active standing in Honors including a minimum 3.25 overall GPA.

Selection will be based on the following:

  • Involvement at WSU and within the Cohen Honors College
  • Leadership
  • Contribution and service to the surrounding community
  • Demonstrated success in Honors courses

Honors Seeking Summer Research Institute (SRI) in First-Year Research Experience (FYRE) Peer Mentors!

SRI in FYRE will be hosted on the WSU main campus from June 5th – 9th. SRI Peer Mentors will assist with camp preparation during the months of April and May. They will serve as mentors, lead team building activities, help an incoming fellow Shocker transition into college life, participate in research alongside the campers, and assist the SRI team with other activities the week of the camp.

If you have an interest in research, enjoy helping students explore their interests in research, and are looking for a short-term paid position, please apply here. The deadline to apply is March 2nd.

Honors Graduate Assistantship Available

The Graduate Staff Assistant, Financial Specialist will have primary responsibility for budget-related data entry and administrative support to staff in the Honors College. This role may be a good fit for you if you love accounting and you enjoy working in a diverse team environment!
