Honors Yearbook: We Want to Include You!

Fill out the yearbook form to be included and commemorate your time in the Cohen Honors College! Please send an individual picture (headshots/senior pictures) to honorsassistant@wichita.edu. We also welcome group pictures from Honors events, Honors students around campus and around town.


Attend the FYRE in STEM Research Showcase on Monday!

FYRE in STEM poster: You're invited to attend the FYRE in STEM Research Showcase Poster Presentations with Drinks and appetizers Monday May 8 from 4pm to 6pm in the Ablah Library FYRE in STEM's first-year research experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is inviting all honors students and mentors to attend on May 8th in Ablah Library from 4pm-6pm. There will be drinks and appetizers for presenters and attendees. Enjoy a good time with friends and mentors while learning and seeing the amazing projects FYRE in STEM has to offer!

Cohen Honors Outstanding Student

The award recognizes a graduating senior leader who takes on challenges and demonstrates commitment to academic excellence in Honors. This award is sponsored by Dorothy and Bill Cohen. Recipients receive a signed image by astrophotographer Ken Naiff and recognition on a plaque hung in the College. This year’s awardees are Nicole Bloomquist and Destanee Brigman-Reed!

Nicole Bloomquist Outstanding Cohen Honors Student 2023 Bachelor of Political Science Honors Law and Public Policy

Nicole is graduating with a Dual Degree in Political Science and Spanish, with a Homeland Security Minor, the Honors Law and Public Policy Track, and two certificates. At Wichita State, she was a Shocker Navigator and worked as a student assistant for the Study Abroad Office, as well as being involved in Model United Nations, the International Buddy Program, and Student Ambassador Society. With the support of the Cohen Honors College, she interned in Washington DC with the State Department for a semester, and she spent a semester studying abroad in Bilbao Spain. In the future she aspires to work in an international relations field and continue to connect different cultures around the world.

Destanee Brigman-Reed Outstanding Cohen Honors Student 2023 Bachelor of Nursing Honors Distinction

Destanee has been a very high achieving and well involved student during her time here at Wichita State. Not only is she an honors student, but also a student athlete, and involved in seven organizations. She holds leadership positions in many of her organizations all while accomplishing nursing school with a high GPA, not to mention the 4 job roles she also holds.
