Cohen Honors Outstanding Student
The award recognizes a graduating senior leader who takes on challenges and demonstrates
commitment to academic excellence in Honors. This award is sponsored by Dorothy and
Bill Cohen. Recipients receive a signed image by astrophotographer Ken Naiff and recognition
on a plaque hung in the College. This year’s awardees are Nicole Bloomquist and Destanee
Brigman-Reed!
|
Nicole is graduating with a Dual Degree in Political Science and Spanish, with a Homeland
Security Minor, the Honors Law and Public Policy Track, and two certificates. At Wichita
State, she was a Shocker Navigator and worked as a student assistant for the Study
Abroad Office, as well as being involved in Model United Nations, the International
Buddy Program, and Student Ambassador Society. With the support of the Cohen Honors
College, she interned in Washington DC with the State Department for a semester, and
she spent a semester studying abroad in Bilbao Spain. In the future she aspires to
work in an international relations field and continue to connect different cultures
around the world.
|
|
Destanee has been a very high achieving and well involved student during her time
here at Wichita State. Not only is she an honors student, but also a student athlete,
and involved in seven organizations. She holds leadership positions in many of her
organizations all while accomplishing nursing school with a high GPA, not to mention
the 4 job roles she also holds.
