Outstanding Cohen Honors Student
Maribel Sánchez is the daughter of two Mexican immigrants and a first-generation college student. She is passionate about developing young people’s leadership capacity in addition to her own. She has spent the past four years at Wichita State University serving as a student employee in various offices, founded the Chi Chapter of Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority Inc., and has mentored countless students of color. She is committed to dedicating her life to uplifting and creating opportunities for youth with underprivileged backgrounds through education and business.
Cohen Honors Faculty Mentor Award
"Dr. Moriah Beck is a great instructor, mentor, and is always looking to be involved in the Honors College. Her work in FYRE has introduced numerous students to undergraduate research and opened future career pathways for them, and in her own lab she provides opportunities for students to learn and challenges them to apply for grants and other opportunities. She attends as many Honors College events as she can, and helped organize a bike ride last semester. In all of her activities, she is always looking to genuinely connect with students, and is open to providing guidance and mentorship to all."
