Diversity Week Starts Monday!

The Student Government Association, in partnership with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, will be hosting the first annual Diversity Week from September 13-17. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join them for a week full of events. The goal is to start and continue conversations about the various groups on campus surrounding race, gender, sexuality, social economic status, disability, and political ideologies as a way to bring diversity-based education to campus. One Week Left to Apply for the Student Fee Scholarship

The Honors Student Council has instituted a scholarship fund to alleviate any financial burden placed on students by the Honors Student Fee. The application contains a 250 word essay. Applications are evaluated by the Honors Student Council. If selected, this scholarship will cover half of the applicant's $50 Honors Student Fee for the Fall 2021 semester. Preference will be given to applicants who do not receive the Honors Merit Scholarship. Applicants will need to reapply every semester.

Honors Takes Old Town

Explore Old Town Wichita on Saturday, September 18, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Meet us at the Old Town Farm & Art Market at 835 E 1st St N, Wichita, KS 67202. We'll take you on a guided walking tour. Be sure to download the PocketSights app and bring headphones. You'll have a fantastic time learning about Wichita's history, meeting people, shopping, and eating!


Virtual Honors Student Town Hall

WSU President Muma is hosting a Town Hall for all Honors College students on Wednesday, September 22, from 4 - 5 p.m. via Zoom. He will give important updates about the university, then students can ask questions.

Final Fridays with Dr. Harrison

On the last Friday of each month, Dr. Harrison is excited to host an activity that sparks conversation about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Stop by the Honors College on September 24 any time from 12 - 2 p.m. to participate in the mystery soda can game!


Sign Up for Wu Big's Event

Wu's Big Event is on Saturday, October 2, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The event is hosted by the Community Service Board and provides an opportunity for over 250 WSU students to come together for a morning of volunteering throughout the Wichita community. Registration is free and includes transportation to the service sites, a t-shirt, a light breakfast, and lunch. Click here to register. If you have questions, email csb@wichita.edu.

Participate in the 1st Annual Chemistry & Biochemistry Undergraduate Research Showcase

The 1st Annual Chemistry and Biochemistry Undergraduate Research Showcase will take place on Wednesday, November 10, from 12 - 6 p.m. It is a wonderful opportunity for undergraduate student researchers at WSU to showcase their research. Whether they are just beginning research towards a specific scientific goal or a more advanced student, any undergraduate student participating in research from the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related programs is able to apply. Undergraduate students wishing to participate must submit an abstract by October 15 at 5 p.m. Click here for more information and to submit an abstract.

Discuss Civic Engagement in Wichita Tomorrow

In 2021, Wichita received a grant from Youth Service America to increase the number of youth and young adult leaders who spearhead projects to improve their community, as well as, build a culture of volunteering and civic engagement. Join United Way of the Plains, Safe Streets Wichita, and Wichita Public Schools as they launch this initiative through a facilitated conversation between young people, elected officials, and community leaders on September 11 from 1 - 2 p.m. Complete this survey to receive more information and the Zoom link.
