FYRE

Undergraduate research is mentored, self-directed work in an area of interest. Through the implementation of a first-year research experience (FYRE), the Cohen Honors College hopes to facilitate more of this work in disciplines across campus. If you think research might be a good fit for you, please visit our FYRE information session on September 13th at 4pm. You'll hear about students' experiences and how research can be accessible and practical for a first-year student. We hope to see you there!

Message from Academic Advisor

jessiThis is a good time to do a quick mental check of how you are doing in  classes and in life. Please check out the resources the University offers to help you with your coursework. Don't hesitate to talk to your   professor during their office hours, which you can find in your syllabus.   Look for study partners. Do this if you are struggling in your classes and   do this if you are doing great in your classes; it will help you to continue   doing great in your classes.

Sometimes a class isn't the right fit for a student during a particular semester. Today is the last day to drop a class and get a 100% refund. After today if you want to change your schedule talk to an advisor first! Not always, but sometimes, we can help you find a class that hasn't started yet to switch to and not lose your money.

The beginning of the semester is a time of change and stress for all of us. We are very lucky at WSU to have the Counseling and Testing Center. They offer low cost personal counseling available to all students, faculty, and staff. They are located in Grace Wilkie Hall Room 320, 978-3440. Please remember that they are here to help you. Look out for each other.

Lastly, the Cohen Honors College is more than just academics - we are a community. Come hang out in the student lounge, drink the free coffee, utilize the free printing, take a nap on a bean bag chair and ask us for help when you need it.
