Move from Idea to Launch
Wichita State University's newest entreprenurial-focused program, the MicroEnterprise Program is an interdisciplinary strategy to support economic growth in the region. Focusing on businesses that operate on a smaller scale, our goal is to support student development of new enterprises and become a national model of student success and applied learning.
Student teams will have the opportunity to enter the Microenterprise Program through
many channels such as Koch Innovation Challenge, Shocker New Venture Competition,
Invent for the Planet, and many others. Teams will be matched with mentors facilitated
by the Office of Innovation and New Ventures to help move their idea to launch.
Academic Pathway
Sparking the entrepreneurial spirit, this phase of the mE program engages first-year students in business fundamentals and applied industry challenges. Enroll in business and entrepreneurship classes to learn the basics, and earn funding and scholarships by competing in the Koch Innovation Challenge.
Craft your business goals and continue your mE path with dozens of multi-disciplinary business, entrepreneurship, and innovation classes across campus. Participate in hack-a-thons and other local events to increase your industry experience and explore additional funding options.
Level up your skills by building your business cohort. Building and leading cross-functional teams gives students the support they need to move forward with their big ideas. Participate in local and regional competitions to bring your innovative ideas to life.
It's time to apply all that knowledge. Grow your expertise by solving technical and industry problems in an applied setting. Competitive opportunties for real-world application include Hacking 4 Defense and the Shocker New Venture Competition.
