Wichita State’s graduate certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counselor to School
Counselor provides a path for students, who currently have their clinical mental health
counseling degree, to obtain additional licensure as a school counselor.

This certificate program requires 12 credit hours. These 12 credit hours allow students
pursuing the 60-credit-hour clinical mental health counseling degree to meet the Kansas
State Department of Education (KSDE) requirement of: having a degree in counseling and completing all required KSDE assessments for school
counseling licensure.
This certificate is open to students currently enrolled in the counseling program’s
clinical mental health counseling degree track or non-degree A status students returning
to complete the school counselor licensure requirements. All Graduate School policies
related to admission will apply to students admitted under non-degree A status.
