- The university estimated that accommodations at the student residence will be about $500 a month.
- The university estimated that meals are around $325 USD per month.
- A transportation estimate was provided by the university at $50 a month.
- The university did not provide an estimate for books, however, we estimate $150 should cover the cost of class materials.
- The BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions health insurance plan is required for study abroad. The total cost is based on the total number of days the student is abroad. As of August 2026, it cost $1.86 per day for a maximum $100,000 coverage and $100 deductible. 150 days (5 months) will be approximately $279.00. There are different coverage plans available at different prices.
- Students studying in Chile for 1 semester (less than 180 days) will enter the country on a tourist visa (no fee). Students will need to exit the country before 90 days in Chile, and then re-enter on a tourist visa.
- Airfare cost was provided according to Orbitz as of 8/3/2026 with travel dates of January 16, 2027 – June 11, 2027. This should provide a good estimate to cover the airfare expense.
- Personal expense estimates are provided by Financial Aid for students living on the WSU campus, which will be similar during a study abroad program.
* Tuition and Fees are based on the Resident rate during Fall 2026 for 12 undergraduate credit hours at Wichita State University. Students will pay their current tuition rate during the study abroad program based on their residency and any specific college/department requirements.
