Why should other students in education-related fields study abroad?
If you are interested in education of any kind, studying abroad, and teaching a language is a great place to start. It gives you the opportunity to work with others, and in my own experience, make new friends. Teaching abroad also helps to get your foot in the door if you are interested in teaching low term. I was not sure if I wanted to teach, but after doing my program at Dankook University, I am confident in my own social skills and teaching abilities now.
How did you benefit from the study abroad program?
Going into my program I was very unsure of what I wanted to do in my life, especially after I graduate in the spring. Having the chance to teach English to my fellow college students and just talk to them on a personal level is an experience I will treasure forever. Not only did I make lifelong friends, but my Korean speaking skills have also improved so much. I grew as a person while I was there and learned a lot about myself. So truly, if you are confused about where you want to go and what you want to do, try studying abroad. It will force you out of your comfort zone and allow you to become the best version of yourself, that is, if you open yourself up to all the experiences that may come your way!
