Each academic program is reviewed on a 4‐‐‐year cycle and the entire process takes approximately one year to complete. Involved in the review are the department (faculty and chair), the college deans, dean of the Graduate School (for graduate programs), the University Program Review Committee, and the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Effectiveness.

The steps and amount of time allocated to each are described below. On an 8-year cycle, the Executive Vice President & Provost reports each degree program to the Kansas Board of Regents using criteria established by the Board.

Based on KBOR approval in September 2022, the 8-year review cycle has been suspended for Spring 2023 and Spring 2024 until new criteria are established.  Kansas Board of Regents Systemwide Program Review will resume with new criteria with the 2023-2024 Review Cycle Year and the Program Review Report will be reported to BAASC and the Board in Spring 2025. In the meantime, Wichita State will continue with the University Program review for the 2023 and 2024 academic years.
