Exit Counseling

If you have dropped below half-time enrollment, withdrawn (either officially or unofficially), discontinued enrollment, or graduated at Wichita State and have received a Subsidized, Unsubsidized, or PLUS Loan under the Direct Loan Program or the FFEL Program, or received a TEACH Grant, you must complete Exit Counseling.

What is Exit Counseling?

Exit Counseling is an online program that provides information for loan repayment options, deferment, forbearance, discharge, consolidation, the consequences of default, and sample loan repayment amounts.

How Do I Complete Exit Counseling?

Exit Counseling can be completed at studentaid.gov

  • If you borrowed Direct Loans: Select "Loan Repayment" at the top of the page, then "Loan Exit Counseling."
  • If you received the TEACH Grant: Select "Loans and Grants" at the top of the page, then "TEACH Grants." On the next page, locate the section titled "TEACH Grant Exit Counseling" and click "Get Started."

On average, last year's graduating class of undergraduate students borrowed $20,187 in federal student loans, and graduate students borrowed $40,992 with $18,841 borrowed specifically in Grad PLUS loans.

For a complete list of your federal student loans, including the amounts borrowed and the names of your loan servicers, review your aid summary at studentaid.gov.  Select "Log In," then under "My Aid," choose "View Details," and then select "Aid Summary."
