This grant is awarded for a total of four consecutive academic years (excluding summers) OR to the point where the student earns their first bachelor’s degree; whichever comes first.
Students must:
- Maintain a minimum overall and semester GPA of 2.5 AND
- Enroll in and successfully complete at least 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring)
It is important to Wichita State to support its local community, and the diverse make-up of WSU students reflects a growth in first-generation, limited-income students. The financial support for the grant is provided from Sedgwick County mill levy funds.
Funding levels range from $250 to $4,000 per year. The grant amount is determined by the institution and is based on average tuition costs less the combination of other gift aid for full-time students (12 credit hours) at Wichita State. Major-specific fees or tuition for additional credit hours are not factored into the original Access Grant offer.
The grant may be reduced based on additional gift aid that results in reduction to need-based eligibility.
