Re: Letter of Public Status, Wichita State University

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to confirm that Wichita State University, which has its main campus in Wichita, Kansas, is statutorily authorized to operate as a state educational institution pursuant to K.S.A. 76-711 et seq.

The Kansas Board of Regents was created by the Constitution of the state of Kansas, A1t. 6,
Section 2, and empowered by the Legislature to govern Wichita State University as well as five other Kansas public universities.

Wichita State University is a public institution of higher education and operates as an agency of
the State of Kansas. K.S.A. §§ 76-711(a), 76-712. The state educational institutions are controlled by and operated and managed under the supervision of the Kansas Board of Regents.

The President of Wichita State University is considered its chief executive officer and is appointed by the Board of Regents. K.S.A. § 76-714.
