WSU Hosts Regents Auditors Training Day

It's essential to renew acquaintances and share ideas, so the Regents' universities' internal auditors take turns hosting a yearly confab. WSU hosted internal auditors from the other Regents universities for our annual training day on Friday, August 3. A few WSU colleagues also joined us. This post recaps our day!

Principal Influences

As host of the day's activities, I centered the day's activities on the teachings of my principal influences, author/blogger Mike Jacka, writer/artist Austin Kleon, and compliance expert Kristy Grant-Hart. Mike Jacka agreed to be our guest speaker and proved to be a great one.

His principal themes, "Essential Auditor Attributes" and "Purpose of Internal Audit," may seem rudimentary. But they provided opportunities to reflect on and discuss Internal Audit's role at our universities. If you're unaware, Board policy requires each university to have an internal audit function and follow professional standards promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

The responsibility of the internal audit function is to serve the university in a manner that is consistent with the International Professional Practices Framework promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

I'll be sharing highlights from our day in future posts. In the meantime, I encourage you to visit the blogs/websites of my principal influences. I think you'll find something of interest.
