Hi! I am Chinonyelum Anyichie, an International student from Nigeria. I am a Creative Writing Masters student and a Graduate Teaching Assistant. My country, Nigeria, is a culturally heterogeneous nation made up of people from over 250 ethnic groups. We take pride in being  the creative hub of Africa in literature, entertainment and commerce. I am proud to be of the Igbo ethnic group and grateful to be a part of the Cultural Ambassador Program which offers me an enabling platform where I can showcase the rich cultural heritage of my Igbo-Nigerian origin, as well as interact with, and learn from other cultures of the world.

Don Boyd

Don - Zimbabwe

Hello there! My name is Don Boyd and I am a first-year international student from Zimbabwe. I am currently studying aerospace engineering and enjoying the WSU student life on the side. I joined the Cultural Ambassadors Program because I would love to spread my culture to everyone and learn about other cultures. This is dear to me because I sternly believe cultural awareness brings us all together so that we can live in harmony. If you see me feel free to tell me about your culture and let's have a chat!"

Maria

Maria - Brazil

Hi there! My name is Maria Luiza Santos and I’m an international student from Brazil. My journey in the U.S. began in 2017 when I did an exchange program in Ellinwood-KS. I’m a nursing major with a minor in psychology. I am currently involved on campus as a student ambassador, transition mentor, and resident assistant in Shocker Hall. I love sports, traveling, movie nights, and sushi! I consider myself to be very outgoing and open-minded and I am always ready for new experiences. My main goal is to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and become a registered nurse. Nursing is my biggest passion, for it aligns with my main goal in life of working in a field that can serve the community in something so essential: health.

Max

Max - Viet Nam

My name is Dương Nhật Trường, and I also go by Max. I am from Hanoi, Vietnam, and I only came to the United States three years ago after earning an Associate of Piano Performance from the Military University of Culture and Arts. I am majoring in Music Education with a concentration in Piano and Choral music. Other than being a Cultural Ambassador, I am also a Resident Assistant at Shocker Hall and the Treasurer for the American Choral Director Association chapter at Wichita State University.

My biggest passion is to help and inspire others. Through this position as a Cultural Ambassador, I desire to create a strong sense of community and belonging for our Vietnamese, Asian, People of Color, and International student populations at Wichita State. Furthermore, I hope that through the work that our Cultural Ambassador Program is dedicating to the student body, we can make a positive and educational impact on the community to strengthen an environment of respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
