OPT Employment Reporting Reasons
The following descriptions are intended to assist students in choosing the correct option when completing an OPT Employment Form:
To report new employment (no previous job or already reported end of previous job
on earlier form)
Choose this reason if you are 1) reporting your first OPT employer, or 2) previously
reported the end your employment without adding a new employer. You will not be prompted
to report the end of a previous job when choosing this option.
To report employment has ended and to provide details of new job
Choose this reason if you are reporting new job details and the end of employment
with another employer.
To report my previous employment has ended and I do not have a new job
Choose this reason if you are submitting this form to report the end of a job and
have no new employment. You will not be prompted to report new job details.
To report additional employment (Student has more than one job)
Choose this reason if you will actively have more than one job. You will only be
prompted to provide the details of the newest job and will not be asked to provide
details of the end of any previous jobs.
To correct or update previously reported information
If you need to clarify or correct information provided on a previous form, please
select this reason. Use the “additional comments” box for context.
