Maha "Maggie" Sawan Fellowship Application

The Maha “Maggie” Sawan Fellowship for Graduate Students was established by Dr. Edwin Sawan, Professor Emeritus in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Wichita State University. It was established in memory of his wife, Maha “Maggie” Sawan, who died in 2010, and honors her lifelong dedication to education and service to family and community. It celebrates her achievements and the respect she engendered in all who came in contact with her. The Maha “Maggie” Sawan Fellowship began in the fall of 2011, awarding two new Sawan Fellows each academic year. Applications and all required material for the 2026-2027 scholarships must be submitted by Friday, April 3, 2026.  No applications or required references will be accepted after this deadline.

Essay Question #1: How do developing technologies help solve our environmental challenges?

Essay Question #2: Is accelerating technological development a blessing or a curse?

Essay Question #3: What are your generation's global challenges? How do you see them, and what is your part in dealing with them.
