How to Request an Immediate Transfer
Did you use an I-20 from WSU to enter the U.S. but immediately decide to complete a SEVIS transfer to another U.S. school? Please read the following information:
- The program start date at your transfer-in school must be within 30 days of your entry to the U.S. If the program start date is more than 30 days after your entry into the U.S., WSU will be required to terminate your SEVIS record before transferring it to the new school. This means you will be in violation of your F-1 status.
- You will not receive a refund if you paid a required enrollment deposit.
- If you are a Global Select Scholarship recipient, you will lose your scholarship. If you return to WSU in the future, you will have to pay standard nonresident tuition rates.
- If you want to attend WSU in the future, you will be required to apply for readmission and you may be required to pay a US$7,000 tuition deposit before a new I-20 can be issued.
If you still wish to proceed with your immediate transfer, please request an Initial Student Immediate Transfer form. The form will ask you to submit the following:
- A copy of your passport biometric information page
- A copy of your I-94 arrival information which can be accessed here: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home
- A copy of your F-1 visa
- One of the following:
- Copy of admission letter from new school that includes program start date
- Copy of I-20 from new school (if one has been issued)
IMPORTANT: Your SEVIS transfer cannot be completed until ALL items are received. Transfers will be processed in the order they are received. Please allow up to 7 business days for the SEVIS transfer to occur. This process can be completed by email so you do not need to remain in Wichita until your SEVIS transfer has been completed. You will receive an email notification when your SEVIS transfer is complete.
