"That's My Story"

Aimee Leisy, Associate Teaching Professor of Intensive English, created the public speaking event called “That’s My Story,” in 2017 to raise the voices of bilingual and multilingual students on campus. “That’s My Story” showcases the stories of international students who are studying English in preparation for academic courses. The goals of this project are to boost the confidence of English learners and to share their linguistic and cultural diversity on campus.

We welcome you to come hear the stories of Intensive English students each year during International Education Week in November!

This year, we were delighted to host a spring semester story event too! Please enjoy the Intensive English student stories from “That's My Story” on April 26, 2023.  The first three stories take place in the students’ respective home countries.  The next two stories are about the arduous process of getting to the United States to study.  And, finally, the last story is of a newly arrived international student’s experience ordering a hamburger upon arrival in Wichita, Kansas.
