How to get started

In order to begin your class, there are three things you must do:

STEP 1: Create a password for the myWSU portal

The myWSU portal is the online portal where all Wichita State students can check their financial aid, enroll or drop classes, view their grades, and much more. To set up your account on the myWSU portal, please do the following:

A) Go to https://webapps.wichita.edu/Account/Home/Forgot

B) Enter the email address you used on your application (ex: Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) and your myWSU ID Number from the accompanying email. Follow the instructions on the screen.

C) Log in to http://mywsu.wichita.edu and explore all of the things our portal has to offer.

STEP 2: Log into your student email account

Now that you are a students, all email correspondence from your professor will be sent to your Wichita State University email account. It is very important that you check this student email account frequently.

  • Read about our email upgrade for students.
  • Log into your student emial accunt at: http://studentmail.wichita.edu
    • For your Username, use this format: myWSUID@wichita.edu (ex: X123Y456@wichita.edu)
    • Your password is the same as the password you created in Step 1
  • Your student email address was included in the accompanying email about your IE Online admission.

STEP 3: Begin your classes

Wichita State University uses a computer system called Blackboard for assignments, communicating with your professor, and more. To take you class:

  • Visit http://blackboard.wichita.edu
  • Enter your myWSU ID and the new password that you created in Step 1.
  • Click on My Courses at the top of the screen.
  • Click on the classes you are enrolled in.
  • Click the link for Welcome! START HERE
  • Be sure to complete all classwork by the assigned due date.
