Wichita State University / Autonomous University of Chihuahua
Dual Degree Program
INTRODUCTION
Wichita State University (WSU) is excited about the possibility of developing a dual degree program with the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua or UACH). To explore if this type of agreement is possible, WSU must first conduct a thorough transfer credit evaluation to determine if the classes taken at UACH are equivalent to classes offered at WSU. In order to begin an evaluation, please follow the steps below:
STEP 1 - GATHER SYLLABI FOR CLASSES THAT YOU WOULD LIKE US TO EVALUATE
Because of the differences between the educational system in Mexico and the U.S., we must have syllabi (in English) for all classes that students would typically take at UACH as part of the dual degree program. The syllabi should include as much detailed information as possible about the material studied in each subject as well as the amount of time spent in lectures and laboratories. Example of a Syllabus
STEP 2 - COLLECT A TYPICAL UACH TRANSCRIPT
It is helpful for us to have a typical transcript from UACH so that we can see grades (and a grading scale), course numbers, and credit hours/units (if applicable). The transcript should be in English.
STEP 3 - PROVIDE YOUR SCHOOL CALENDAR
When conducting an evaluation, it will be helpful for us to know the months during which classes are normally in session at UACH. For this reason, please provide your school's academic calendar.
STEP 4 - SEND THE ABOVE ITEMS TO WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY
Please send the above items to Ms. Michelle Barger at intltransfer.eval@wichita.edu or post to:

STEP 5 - DETERMINATION OF COURSE EQUIVALENCIES
After you have provided all of the items in Steps 1 to 3, Wichita State University will begin a transfer credit evaluation. This process involves our sending the UACH syllabus for each subject to the WSU department which offers a comparable class.
STEP 6 - DEGREE AUDIT EVALUATION AND CREATION OF STUDY PLANS
After Step 5 is complete, we will use this information to determine which UACH classes meet the degree requirements for the majors included in our agreement. This process is called a degree audit. It is important to note that not all of the classes that a student completed previously, even if they are comparable to subjects offered at WSU, may satisfy the degree requirements for a particular major at WSU. For example, if a student took a math class at your school and we determined that it is equivalent to an Algebra class offered at WSU, Algebra would meet a degree requirement for many majors at WSU -- but not necessarily for Engineering majors. A degree audit evaluation will determine the number of subjects (and approximate amount of time) required for a student to complete their degree at WSU. Wichita State University is interested in pursuing dual degree programs for the following majors offered at WSU:
Liberal Arts and Sciences
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry
• Bachelor of Communication Sciences
• Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic American Literature
Barton School of Business
• Bachelor of Business Administration
• Bachelor of International Business
College of Fine Arts
• Bachelor of Visual Arts
• Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Production
College of Engineering
• Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Process Engineering
NOTE: If a UACH student is interested in pursuing a major at WSU that is not listed above, we would be happy to consider the student for admission and conduct an individualized degree audit for that particular student. The student would then know how long it will take to graduate from Wichita State University with a major that is not included in our agreement.
