Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Therapy Services

  • CAPS offers affordable individual, couples, and group therapy
  • If a student is looking to begin services, they can schedule their first appointment online or by calling
  • Services provided by licensed counselors or supervised by licensed counselors

Crisis Services

  • If a student is in a mental health crisis, CAPS offers a safe location and counselors who can assist during regular business hours
  • Examples of a mental health crisis include: immediate thoughts of suicide/self harm, assault or abuse
  • Students can also seek help via the Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988) and the Crisis Text Line (741-741)

Common concerns we treat

  1. Anxiety (of all kinds)
  2. Depression
  3. Adjustment difficulty
  4. Relationship challenges
  5. Identity concerns
  6. Substance use/abuse
  7. Mood disorders
  8. Suicidal ideation
  9. And so many more!

If you’re thinking individual therapy is the best modality, these are some of the common concerns we see at CAPS.

It is quite rare for CAPS to refer you out to someone else. We are able to see and treat most folks who walk through our doors.

If we think any of these challenges might be better managed with medication, we can talk about that together and help get you set up with a provider at Student Health.*

*It is important to note that you do not need to come to an individual therapy appointment to gain medication services. If you already have medication or are confident in starting them without therapy, you are allowed to directly call and make a medication appt. with Student Health.

Counseling and Psychological Services

One of the beautiful things about all aspects of health being under one roof means that it’s usually a one stop shop. So you can receive both physical, mental, and medication services at the SWC. Note: We only see enrolled students.
