Graduation Gift Guide for Your Future Shocker

With high school graduation season upon us you may be wondering what to get for your future Shocker. Look no further, because we put together a list of gift ideas.

  • Gift cards – Who doesn’t love a gift card? Consider buying your student gift cards to restaurants near or on-campus including Fuzzy’s, Panera, Sonic, Starbucks and Subway to name a few. Amazon and Wal-Mart gift cards can also be useful for those last-minute dorm room and class supplies.

Quick insider tip: Chick-fil-A gift cards cannot be redeemed at the Chick-fil-A inside the Rhatigan Student Center.
  • Small appliances – For the students who may want some quick and easy access to food in the comfort of their dorm room you might consider purchasing a mini fridge, microwave or air fryer. Once they're done cooking up some food, they will need a vacuum to clean up. A lightweight and cordless vacuum will likely work the best. Before you make any appliance purchases, check out the Housing & Residence Life New Resident Packing list for specifics on dimensions and specs.
  • Dorm room essentials – A few dorm room essentials we suggest for new students include bedding (all beds in our residence halls are twin XL), a shower caddy and a laundry basket. For those living in Shocker Hall, you might look for a laundry basket with wheels to make lugging laundry to the laundry room just a little easier.
  • Printed photos – Give your student a more personalized gift by printing some of their favorite photos of friends, family, memories and pets. Once you print the photos, put them in neat frames or make them into a collage they can hang in their room.
  • Wichita State merch – You can never go wrong with Shocker gear. Whether it's a t-shirt, sweatshirt, jacket, hat or backpack the Shocker Store has it all! The Shocker Store has two locations - one in the Rhatigan Student Center and the other in Braeburn Square. You can also place an order online and have your items shipped to you!

We hope this guide gives you just a few ideas as you shop for your high school graduate.
