A Look at Woolsey Hall – The Newest Space for Shockers

The newest addition to Wichita State’s campus is a facility to rival any.

Wayne and Kay Woolsey Hall hosted its first classes in August 2022 following its completed construction. The $60 million project is the new home of the W. Frank Barton School of Business, Wichita State’s AACSB-accredited college offering the state’s largest selection of business programs.

Woolsey Hall is a 125,000-square-foot beacon with a Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Silver rating, the most widely used green building rating system. The three-story facility hosts a myriad of features and services including:

• Social stairs on the main floor
• Frank A. Boettger Auditorium (300 seats)
• State-of-the-art classrooms and study rooms which include flexible learning environments
• Cargill Café
• Fidelity Bank Ballroom
• Koch Global Trading Center
• Student Success Centers for both undergraduate and graduate students
• An outdoor terrace on the second floor
• One-Button Studio
• Business Analytics and Behavioral Research Labs

With the new digs, the Barton School of Business will be able to offer Shockers more resources than ever in its storied history. Clinton Hall, the school’s previous home for the past 52 years, is also set to receive a $17 million facelift to become the Shocker Success Center – the new hub for 17 student services currently spread around campus in 10 separate buildings.

Part of the business school project still under construction is the Promise Bridge – a 300-foot pedestrian bridge connecting the main campus to Woolsey Hall  and the Innovation Campus overlooking the water feature south of the facility. The bridge signifies Wichita State University’s commitment to academics, research, and industry.
