The Holiday spirit is not lost on the citizens of Wichita. With winter break lasting into January, here are a few ways to spend downtime for students staying in the ICT.

1. Snap a Selfie

The Selfie Spot's Holiday Booths run from Nov. 19 through Dec. 31 at 1811 E. Douglas Ave. and offers self-serve photography in 14 photo exhibits perfect for socials. They are open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday and you can come by yourself or with a group. Read more on their website for admission costs and different holiday-themed photo opportunities.

2. View the Lights

Billed as the "brightest place in Kansas," Illuminations takes place through Dec. 31 at Botanica, 701 Amidon St. With more than 2 million lights and several different amenities, this is the cream of the crop for those wanting to see holiday lights. It is not, however, the only option around the city. Visit Wichita has a handy list of 30-plus displays to view.

3. Cheer on the Shockers!

There are six men's and seven women's basketball games, four of each that are home, taking place between now and when classes begin again on Jan. 17. If you are a college student, all you have to do is show your student ID from your respective college and you get free admission to any of the men's games over break. Students grades k-college can also get in free to home women's basketball games. This is an especially fun time in the college basketball season as conference play is opening up.

4. Go Holiday Shopping

Wichita has plenty of shopping districts and places to find something good to splurge on. If you're living on or near campus, Bradley Fair is a popular option with a variety of treat shops, restaurants, fashion boutiques, salons and more!

5. Lace Up Your Skates

Might as well make the best of the winter weather! Chicken N Pickle offers skating on their Ice Pond at the Plazzio. Hours are dependent on weather, but the ice pond is usually open 11 a.m. - close on weekdays, 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Sundays.

Whatever you decide to do with the winter break, all here at the Office of Admissions wish you a Happy Holidays!
