These tips for student life at Wichita State will help you discover some great habits, discounts and everyone's favorite thing - FREE STUFF! Read through the end to find out the fan-favorite tip that isn't super well known.

1. Leave Your Keys on a Hook Next to Your Door

Keeping your keys next to your door will help make sure you never have to look for them and help you get out of the door quick.

2. Keep an Extra Pair of Shoes by Your Door

Those middle of the night fire alarms are inevitable! Be sure to keep a pair of shoes that you can slip on when you need to get out of the door when you're half asleep (it will save you from any embarrassing stories). Also consider doing this with a jacket during colder seasons.

3. Tupperware

This one may seem weird to you, but I always recommend taking Tupperware to events that you know will have leftovers. Such as Shockers After Dark, college programs or even just events put on in the East Courtyard. This food is going to go to waste if thrown out, so why not save yourself some money and have it for lunch or dinner the next day?

4. Leave Some Clothes at Home

Leave your off-season clothes at home! This goes for coats in the summer or shorts in the winter. It will save you space and the packing effort.

5. Amazon Snack Boxes

You may be obsessed with Amazon, but there is nothing better than receiving snack boxes in the mail. Ask your parents or guardian for your birthday, or even just splurge on yourself after a hard week. You can get custom boxes with snacks you love or order one of the many prepackaged boxes they already have available.

6. Shock Stops Student Discounts

Shock Stops are different locations around Wichita that offer student discounts for WSU students, and all you have to do is show you WSU ID. Visit participating merchants to check out all the different places that offer these awesome deals!

7. Starbucks Refills and Discounts

This one is for all the Starbucks lovers! You can get refills on iced coffee, drip coffee and tea for only 50 cents. If it is in the same visit, you can get as many as you'd like. Plus, if you bring in your own cup you can get a 10-cent discount.

8. Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes Perks Program

Shocker Grill and Lanes started a brand-new perks program. Every dollar spent is a point earned, and each month there is a different perk you can redeem your points for. For April, the perk was a free large drink and for May it is $5 off your purchase.

9. Shocker Basketball Games

We always recommend going to a Shocker basketball game. Especially because all home athletic events are free for students to attend. But if then men's basketball team scores 73 or more points, you can trade your game ticket in for a free medium french fry at McDonalds! French fries aren't your thing? What about donuts? You can also take your ticket to a Dillions after any Shocker men's basketball win to trade out for a free donut.

10. Fan Favorite: Campus Police Poker Chips

If you start a conversation with a campus police officer and ask for a poker chip, they will most likely give you one if they haven't run out for that day. You can trade this poker chip in for all kinds of things on campus. Scan the QR code on the chip to see all the different discounts you can get with it, such as a free drink at Panda Express, 20 percent off at the Shocker Store, a free taco at Fuzzy's and so much more!
