Spring philanthropy events are in full swing with Wichita State University’s Greek Life. These next few months are jam-packed with fun and unique fundraising events from so many different organizations. Check out some of these events to support your local organizations and community.
Delta Upsilon NachoFest - April 14-15
With lunch, dinner and late-night sessions, Delta Upsilon will be serving up nachos for its annual philanthropy event. This year, they will also be debuting its NachoBall tournament, with rules similar to volleyball. There will be options to purchase tickets and shirts, with 100% of the proceeds going to its international philanthropy, the Global Service Initiative. The Global Service Initiative is a program dedicated to sending Delta Upsilon members to Jamaica to put its values into action. They interact with the locals and help with various construction projects, pushing community growth.
Panhellenic Dodgeball - April 16
Wichita State’s Panhellenic Council is hosting its first-ever dodgeball tournament in the Heskett Center Gym starting at noon on April 16. There will be teams from PC, IFC, MGC, and NPHC that will be participating in the tournament. Entry for both teams to participate and spectators to watch will be donations to Harbor House collected by Panhellenic. Harbor House is a domestic violence shelter dedicated to helping the survivors of abuse and breaking the cycle of violence against women and children, all proceeds will be donated to the organization.
Chi Sigma Tau’s Chisadilla - April 17
The fifth annual Chisadilla event with Chi Sigma Tau will be held at the University United Methodist Church, 2220 N. Yale Ave., on April 17 from 12 - 3 p.m. and 4 - 8 p.m. They will be serving cheese quesadillas for $9 and chicken quesadillas for $10. Tickets can be pre-ordered and quesadillas are all-you-can-eat!
Delta Delta Delta’s DHOP - April 21-22
Tri Delta will be hosting its annual Delta House of Pancakes event on April 21 and 22 at its chapter house. There will be unlimited pancakes with a variety of toppings available, with all proceeds going to its national philanthropy, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is dedicated to finding cures for childhood cancer and providing resources for families in need.
Grilled Cheese with GPhiB - April 28-29
Gamma Phi Beta is having its annual philanthropy event in support of Heartspring of Wichita. There will be tickets available for purchase from individual members or at the door to enjoy some great grilled cheese. All proceeds from the event will go to Heartspring, an organization that provides services and therapies for children with complex needs and disabilities.
Kappa Kappa Jamma - April 29
Kappa Kappa Gamma is hosting its newest philanthropy event, Kappa Kappa Jamma on April 29 at 2 p.m. The event will be a lip-sync competition between different Greek Life teams and student organizations on campus. Tickets will be $8 ahead of time and $10 at the door, this includes entry fees, food, drinks and desserts. Proceeds for this event will go to several organizations in support of mental health awareness.
