Shockers Supported With Health Resources To Help Manage Stress

Managing stress brought on by a college workload is important to staying the course. Wichita State University offers several avenues for students to de-stress and maintain their physical, mental and social health. There is also plenty of support for Shockers who are struggling with their health.

Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS)

CAPS provides support for mental wellness through affordable counseling services, prevention education and outreach to the WSU community with licensed providers. CAPS has also has plenty of helpful free resources such as online health screenings and their Keep Calm and Breathe series.

Campus Recreation and Wellness

Keeping active is a great way to de-stress and Wichita State isn't frugal with its offerings to students. Campus Recreation offers a myriad of sports clubs, intramurals, events and more for Shockers, as well as access to facilities at the Heskett Center at no extra cost.

Students also receive a free membership to all 10 Wichita-area YMCAs including the on-campus Steve Clark YMCA and Student Wellness Center.

Student Health Services

Shockers can receive access to a nurse or doctor right on campus at Student Health Services (SHS) located in the Student Wellness Center inside of the Steve Clark YMCA. The services offered at SHS can be utilized by students at little to no cost, and vary from a secure portal to communicate with on-campus health professionals, to prescription refills, to treatment for illness and injury.
