Capturing Campus Beauty: My Favorite Photos

Though I have lived in Wichita, Kansas, for all of my life, I did not have many photos of myself on campus before I started school. However, once I began school at Wichita State University, I quite enjoyed taking photos around campus.

We have this nice new mural in the Rhatigan Student Center. It is a perfect place for prospective students to take a photo while visiting campus!

Kansas has arguably some of the nicest sunsets in the Midwest. The sunsets in the spring and fall are amazing, and some of my favorite pictures on campus are of sunsets. The sunrises are also quite beautiful! The campus is not far from downtown Wichita, and the view of downtown and the sunset can be amazing!

I took this photo while watching Intramural softball games. WSU has many opportunities for involvement on campus, and intramurals are just one of the many options that WSU offers!Photo courtesy of Anna Brake

I took this photo one morning while walking to work on my research project in organic chemistry! I am involved in research on campus, and the science I get to see is so cool!Photo courtesy of Anna Brake

We have a very fun art part of campus! There are over 80 sculptures on campus. This sculpture is a millipede, nicknamed Millie!Photo courtesy of Anna Brake

The Ulrich Museum of Art also has a very nice area with so many different plants! The gardeners at WSU are amazing – every spring, they actually plant tulips in all of the flower beds around campus!Photo courtesy of Anna Brake

Currently, my favorite place to take photos is at the Library! The flower beds outside the library are beautiful, and the flowers are blooming so lovely in the springtime! It is fitting since I spend so much time studying at the library.Photo courtesy of Anna Brake

While this photo was not taken on the WSU campus, I wanted to highlight the many weekend excursions that are available to students off campus. I enjoy going with my aunt to estate sales. This is a painting that she picked out at an estate sale. Plus, I find it very fun to see the architecture and design of old houses. There are so many fun neighborhoods around town, and Wichita takes weekend estate sales very seriously. There are also many events that happen on the weekends, and WSU hosts events on campus for students as well!

There are many photo-worthy places on the WSU campus, and I have just highlighted a few. Campus changes so much over the four seasons – so many flowers in springtime, greenery in the summer, colorful leaves in the fall, and some rare snow flurries in the winter. No matter where you are on campus, you can find a great place to take a picture. Many of my favorite pictures are of the most important people in my life, many of whom I have met on campus. I have so enjoyed my time at Wichita State University – the faculty and staff go out of their way to help, and I am so grateful for the opportunities that my university has provided me. I hope that you have a chance to check out the great photo spots at WSU!
