Is WSU a good fit for Topeka-area students?
It’s a great fit. In addition to its outstanding education and multitude of student activities, WSU is an easy two-hour drive from Topeka, which is close enough to home to visit but far enough away for students to build their own college experience and remain independent. The Wichita area has many new places to visit, including shopping and restaurants, but in spite of its larger size, it still remains a close-knit community that students can be part of.

What’s unique about Wichita State?
WSU has the warmest, friendliest atmosphere of any of the colleges I’ve visited. The faculty and staff are really interested in helping students succeed.

You won Kansas’ largest undergrad scholarship. What other big opportunities
does WSU offer students?

Co-op offers chances to get work experience in your field, while getting college credit all before graduating. The honors program has smaller, more focused discussion classes that I really enjoy.

What’s the best thing about being a Shocker?
The atmosphere. WSU faculty are the most helpful professors around. Students are friendly, and everyone supports on-campus events.

Why did you choose WSU?
The first time I visited campus was in high school for the state track meet, and I was attracted to WSU’s size, beauty, outdoor art and architecture. As a student wanting to pursue a health care degree, I liked that WSU had a physical therapy program and offered the only physician assistant program in Kansas.

How would you describe the WSU experience?
It’s very personalized. I love being part of a student body that’s smaller than the largest state schools. With smaller class sizes, I get more personalized attention from professors, too.

What’s the best thing about WSU campus life?
Being able to attend Shocker athletic events for free!

Why should Topeka-area high school students choose WSU?
WSU offers great scholarships, a wide variety of degrees and personalized instruction from professors. For health care majors, WSU’s location near two large hospital systems provides real-world experience and career opportunities for graduates.
