Business Students

 

The W. Frank Barton School of Business annually awards over $1,000,000 each year in all areas of business.  Scholarships are mostly based on academic achievement and need-based. These awards are made possible by our gracious donors. Their generous gifts provide over 300 students the opportunity to continue their studies in the field of business.

AGH Scholarship Competition

Current high school seniors are invited to attend the AGH Scholarship Competition. Participating students will be considered for the following scholarships: the Clay Barton Business Scholarship (all business majors) and the Professor Fran Jabara Endowed Scholarship (for entrepreneurship majors). Students can RSVP for the competition by clicking the button below.

      • Friday, November 22, 2024 in Woolsey Hall
        • Morning session: 8:00 – 11:00 AM
        • Afternoon session: 1:00 – 4:00 PM
        • Participants will only participate in one session
      • Interview for the Jabara scholarship will take place between 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM on the day of the competition

The W. Frank Barton School of Business invites graduating seniors to compete in the Allen, Gibbs, and Houlik Scholarship Competition. Scholarship awards will be given to the top finalist and the final selection will be awarded the $50,000 Clay Barton Scholarship
Jabara Entrepreneurship Competition for High School Seniors

Professor Fran Jabara Scholarship Competition (deadline 11/17/2024) 

The W. Frank Barton School of Business awards two $32,700 Professor Fran Jabara Endowed Scholarship each year to students majoring or double-majoring in Entrepreneurship.  The scholarship in awarded over a four year period.

Scholarship Universe

Most business scholarship recipients are selected using our online General Business Scholarship Application. This application is open from November 1 through February 1 each academic year, and applications received during this application period are used to select recipients for the following academic year.  The awarding process begins in March and goes through August to have all scholarships awarded, if you receive a scholarship you will be sent an email.

General Business Scholarship Application Information

The Barton School of Business has over 170 active scholarship funds. The eligibility criteria is unique to each scholarship based on the guidelines set forth by the donor. Some are merit-based and need-based scholarships. With the exception of the James and Catherine Buck Business Scholarship, nearly all business undergraduate scholarships are awarded using the General Business Scholarship Application.

General Business School Scholarship Application (deadline February 1, 2025 for 2025-2026)

This is for both undergraduate and graduate students

*Information about the recipient, such as name, address, major will be given to the donor of the scholarship they are receiving.

James and Catherine Buck Scholarship in Business
James and Catherine Buck Charitable Trust Scholarship (priority deadline February 1, 2025 for 2025-2026) 

Requirements for this scholarship: Full-time undergraduate student; GPA between 2.5 and 3.5; be employed off campus a minium of 8 hours per week; and have financial need. The recipients names and GPA of the Buck Scholarship will be given to the trust company.

 BKD Accountancy Scholarship (Deadline March 1, 2025 for 2025-2026)
Butler Community College Scholarship for Transfer Students

Each year, five students meeting the following criteria will be awarded as $8,000 scholarship ($4,000/year for two years).To be eligible for the scholarships, students must:

  • Be admitted to the Barton School of Business for upcoming Fall semesters
  • Have a 3.0 minimum overall GPA
  • Show financial need
  • Be a full-time student with Butler Community College in their final spring semester
  • Complete an Associates Degree with Butler Community College
Students who meet these criteria will automatically be considered with a complete application for admission to Wichita State University. In order to be considered, students must have completed an application to Wichita State University by May 15th.

Phi Theta Kappa Business Scholarship-For Community College Transfer Students
The Wichita State University Barton School of Business Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship will award three students with a scholarship of $1,000 per year for two years. To be considered students must:
 
  • Be a member of Phi Theta Kappa
  • Have a Barton School of Business major declared
  • Be a full-time (at least 12 credits) at Wichita State University
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
  • Be entering WSU as a Transfer Student/Returning Adult
To be fully considered for the scholarship, students must meet the above criteria for the upcoming fall semester and complete the application no later than April 1st. Students can visit Wichita.edu/PTKScholarship or https://wichitastate.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_06qZ637jCbtnILY  to apply.

Shocker Pathway for Business Scholarship- For WSU Tech Transfer Students
The Wichita State University Barton School of Business is partnering with WSU Tech to award five students with a scholarship of $3,500 per year for two years. To be considered students must:
 
  • Be a WSU Tech graduate or enrolled in the Shocker Pathway Program
  • Have a Barton School of Business major declared
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be a full-time (at least 12 credits) at Wichita State University
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
To be fully considered for the scholarship, students must meet the above criteria for the upcoming fall semester, have their FAFSA on file at Wichita State University, and complete the application at Wichita.edu/bsbpathway or https://wichitastate.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9HpNi8FH0fCxwvs  by April 1st.

Who Can Apply

  • Incoming freshman students
  • Incoming undergraduate transfer students
  • Current WSU undergraduate and graduate students

Application Guidelines

  • Most business scholarships require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. If your GPA is below 3.0, you are still welcome to complete an application, but there may be a limited number of scholarships for which you qualify.
  • Questions on the General Business Scholarship Application will be used to match the applicant with the guidelines of the available scholarships. Be as accurate and as thorough as possible when answering the questions.

 Application Timeline & Additional Information

  • The application period for 2025-2026 scholarship awards is open on and priority will be given to those on submitted application by March 1st, 2025.  
  • Awarding scholarship for 2025-2026 will begin in March and will continue through the start of the school year until all scholarships have been awarded.

Scholarships are not automatically renewable.
