Website: Learn more about Historic Walking Tour of Wichita State University and the Fairmount Neighborhood

As Wichita State University celebrates its 125th anniversary, join us for a walking tour of Fairmount and WSU. We will explore the Fairmount Neighborhood and learn about some of the founding families such as the Parkers and the Morrisons. We will learn how this dynamic and ever-changing part of the city has developed over time with stories that range from the celebration of rock and roll to the challenging legacies of Civil Rights. As we cross 17th Street, we will turn our attention to Wichita State University and explore how the campus has reflected decades of change from the years of Fairmount College to the recent developments of the Innovation Campus. We will have lunch on campus with a chance to reflect on how the next 125 years might unfold.

Instructor: Dr. Jay Price, Chair & Professor, Department of History, Wichita State University
